I've got a VCD and I want to extract the sound...any idea how? I'm on an Windows XP computer.

If I remember correctly, VCD just contains MPEG files (much like a DVD). I believe VirtualDub-MPEG2 could do it.

Have you tried QuickMediaConverter? It's a free download and can convert and extract the video or audio portions of a file to another format.

I've had to convert between file types - video and audio. It works great and it's free.
