How do you transfer videos from the Sony DCR-TRV250 to a laptop running Windows 7? My laptop does not have an IEEE port. Thank you!

You won't get the best quality without Firewire (IEEE 1394). If your laptop has a PC Card slot or an ExpressCard slot, you might consider getting a Firewire card.

USBDRVEN.EXE (search for it on this site) is Sony's USB driver. It will probably work on Windows 7. Try following this instruction: Connecting Sony Handycam to Windows Vista Via USB. Windows 7 and Windows Vista are basically the same operating system.
Just remember, Firewire is much better quality than USB.

um, firewire is not "better quality". It is capable of faster transfer rates than USB but it has nothing to do with the quality of the video.

Technically, that's true, T S. Unfortunately, Sony's implementation of USB streaming doesn't provide the quality that Firewire provides. Firewire produces DV, which has a standard resolution of 720x480. "Camcorders that offer video transfer over USB usually do not deliver full DV quality - usually it is 320x240 video (except of Sony DCR-PC1000 camcorder and some Panasonic camcorders providing transfer of full-quality DV stream via USB)." For more information about the DV format, see this Wikipedia article: DV
