Nikon Coolpix S80 Digital Camera

I'm in the market for a new small point and click digital camera. The perfect candidate is something for snapshots that has better resolution than my lowly BlackBerry's camera, and is a good solution for shots that are not important enough to dig out the massive Nikon D-40 SLR from under the office couch. Just an unassuming (and perhaps FUN!) camera that is very portable, takes great pictures and doesn't requirement much brain power to use. I used to love my little Pentax, but time and technology march forward and 3.2 megapixels just doesn't cut the image mustard any longer.

There are many digital cameras out there in the same segment as the Nikon Coolpix S80 Digital Camera, so why am I drawn to this one. Is the flat, modern styling that Nikon touts as “sleek and sophisticated”? Or could it be that big, bright 3.5” touchscreen display? Certainly the 14.1 megapixel (4352 x 3264 ) resolution is a big attraction. How can a camera so small and cute give such great high definition photos? (And speaking of HD, the S80 also records 780p HD video with stereo sound. Not too shabby, me thinks!)

But I think I know what really grabs me about the S80… RED! It comes in bold, bright, beautiful RED, my absolutely favorite color in the whole big wide wild universe!
Now, I know what you're thinking… Red is NOT your favorite color and not by a big, long, tiring country mile. No to fear, compadre… the Nikon Coolpix S80 Digital Camera comes in a veritable rainbow of cool hues… pink (!), blue, gold, silver & brown, and the always elegant and desirable BLACK!

Another great thing about the S80 is that it has a 5x optical lens. That is very impressive for a camera as then and stylish as this one.
The Nikon Coolpix S80 Digital Camera also allows a wide variety of SD card storage options for the “cool pics” you take: SD, SDHC, and SDXC. It also has 79MB of its own internal memory.

It stores still photos as JPEG files, videos as MOV, and audio as WAV files.

It takes great shots in low light conditions with variable ISO sensitivity up to 6400!
Best of all the petite S80 weighs under 5 ounces.

The Nikon Coolpix S80 Digital Camera has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $249.95 in the United States but is available from major retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy for less.
