Nikon Coolpix S4000 -- A Worthy Digital Camera

Nikon is a Japanese multinational corporation and they are specialists in the production of optics and imaging products. Their products include cameras, microscopes, measurement instruments, binoculars and the steppers used in photolithography. Nikon introduced a new compact touch screen digital camera called Nikon Coolpix S4000.

The dimension of the camera is 94.5 × 56.5 × 20.4 mm (3.8 × 2.3 × 0.8 inches). It includes a 3.1 inches of TFT active matrix LCD display having 460,000 pixels of display format. It bears a 12.0 Megapixels of effective image resolution. It has a 1/2.3 inches CCD type of image sensor. The effective sensor resolution of this camera is 12,000,000 pixels. The total pixels of this camera are 12,390,000.

Coolpix S4000 comes with an NIKKOR zoom lens having an aperture range of f/3.2 to f/5.9. The focal length range of this lens is 4.9 mm to 19.6 mm. The optical zoom will be 4x. The minimum focus range of the lens is 19.7 inches and the macro focus range is 3.0 inches. The digital zoom will be up to 4x. It includes a built-in lens shield as well. The ISO sensitivity ranges from ISO 80 to ISO 3200. It comprises a self timer and the self timer delay has an option of two seconds and 10 seconds.

The frame movie shooting mode feature is available with this camera. Some of the shooting programs are blink proof, blink warning, smile shutter and soft skin. It includes an electronic image stabilizer. The face detection and the electronic vibration reduction features are also there. The white balance function has white balance presets such as automatic, cloudy, flash, fluorescent and incandescent. The internal flash memory capacity of the camera is 45 MB. It uses SD memory card as supported flash memory. The effective flash range of S4000 is 1.6 ft to 7.9 ft.

It uses lithium-ion rechargeable battery EN-EL 10 for power source. It provides 190 shots for a single full-time charge. The supplied accessories comes with this camera are rechargeable lithium ion battery EN-EL 10, USB cable UC-E6, AC adapter EH-68P/EH-68P (AR), audio video cable EG-CP 14, strap AN-CP19 and software suite CD-ROM. The optional accessories are AC adapter EH-62D and battery charger MH-63. The camera weighs 131 grams (4.62 ounces). Nikon Coolpix S4000 is priced around 200 US Dollars. With perfect picture quality and nice touch screen interface Coolpix S4000 turned out as a worthy digital camera for all the camera lovers.
