I am looking for cameras that come with the Software Development Kit (SDK) to be able to remotely control the camera from my application.
Here is my list of the brands I've checked so far, that proide SDKs for certain cameras:
- Canon,
- Nikon (but I am not sure if it supports live viewfinder mode)
- Olympus (doesn't seem to support viewfinder mode)
- FujiFilm (not sure about viewfinder mode)
Sony and Kodak don't provide SDKs.
Are there any other options?
Thanks.

I'm looking too for SDKs with supports to live preview.
At this moment, i've found this feature just in Canon cameras, and they are discontinuing those supported models.
Please, if you have news about this topic, give us an advice to findit.

Kodak used to have somthing called
" Digita scripting " for its original
DC-260 It was programed by editing a text
file that is stored in the compact flash
memory cartridge.
The problem is that this camera would
go slowly mad on cartridges over 128 Megs
I used a 256 Meg.

the Olympus cameras do give live preview on the AV port
not on usb. I am using the same for a live preview with a
capture card.
However most of the commercial version of the cameras are
not supported only the professional E series is supported

I found several projects on sourceforge.net to control Canon and Nikon cameras by remote. Just search for these names. Especially canon is supported very vell and since the source is open, it's clear what exactly is being sent to the usb port.
