Hi,
I appreciate the information on your site, and was hoping you might know of a camera which has an av-in port (composite video into the camera). These days they all have the usual video-out port for TV viewing, but I need the reverse.
I've got an infrared video camera, and I want to grab frames from that camera with a conventional digital camera so I can get both infrared and visual images one after another quickly and easily. Right now I go through an elaborate process of recording the infrared video signal onto tape, and then grabbing frames off the tape with the computer, then combining those with visual images taken by a separate digital camera..
Do you know of any digital camera that has an av-in port? Or do you know somebody who might know of one?
nks for nay help you might be able to provide.Lew

I do not know of any digital cameras that can do this. However, there are a number of video cameras that can take still pictures of your footage and store it on a memory card, such as the Sony DCR-TRV350. Then you can download the pictures off the memory card into your computer.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I appreciate the information. The camcorder option is there, but from what I've seen, it's very awkward to switch back and forth between external and internal video sources (requires menu choices 3-deep in the case of the Canon) What I'm after is something which switches instantly (mechanical switch, such as that interrupting the external video signal)
I'll go and look at video cameras again. It may be that once the video source has been switched to external, any interruption in the signal will default to the internal source. It's certainly worth another try.
Thanks again,
Lew
