Level 2 Service Manual for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P8 and DSC-T1

After much stress dealing with a no-name vender (sivaraman vasudevan or sharmila at videolabs@gmail.com and/or videospare@yahoo.com) I have the service manual for the Sony DSC-P8 camera. It's the level 2 version which means it's one step up from the owners manual (level 1) and has all of the necessary breakdown information for taking your camera appart and trouble shooting it. There are several boards where there are no schematic for them because they are only designed to be replaced, not serviced. Knowing that, I don't believe there is a public release of any level 3 service manual. There are plenty of schematics in the level 2 service manual describing how everything connects together and all of the pin names for connectors. It does get down to a component level of detail on some serviceable boards within the camera, like the power supply among others.

If anyone needs this manual, I can make it available to you for a reasonable price via Paypal only... say a couple dollars. The manual is in PDF format and is 5.14MB written in english full of pictures. Just email me at emailbrett [at] gmail [dot] com for my paypal id if you are interested.

And by all means, do not buy from videolabs@gmail.com or videospare@yahoo.com, I had to get paypal involved with a claim before they would send me the service manual... took about 2 weeks to resolve. I'll promptly reply to your request and send the PDF out as soon as I am by any computer.

BTW: I only have manuals for the Sony DSC-P8 and T1 cameras.

I now have the following manuals:

Sony DSC-P8 level 2
Sony DSC-T1 level 2
Sony DSC-F717 level 1, 2, 3, and ADJ

Level 1 is always just the user manual.
Level 2 is disassembly, high level board replacement/troubleshooting, parts list, block diagrams, high level schematics.
Level 3 is down at the board level circuitry, full parts list of even the tiny components on the boards. Trust me, you don't want to even mess with that unless you have all of the equipment necessary and good working knowledge of electronics.
ADJ is the adjustments manual.. more in depth like level 3.

Hi Brett! Please, e-mail me service manual on Sony DSC-F717 level 2. I dropped mine and the thumb wheel no longer works. The LCD frequently displays pictures with a green hue and then self corrects (though the pics are not affected). THANKS.

I need the DSC-T1repair manual.I get a LENS COVER CLOSED error message when
the lens cover is opened.

I have a Sony DSC-T1. I can turn on the power to view photos that are on the memory card but the camera will not turn on to capture photos. I get the error message "LENS COVER CLOSED" when I slide down the lens cover. Sony wants $181 to send them the camera. Any other ideas

Hey Brett daughter dropped cam in DC its a DSC-W55auto focus stuck Isure could use a manual with the parts breakdown and and parts list so I can fix or throw away whichever comes first darn thing is brand new atleast we were able to get the pics thanks Randy

Hi Chen, I encountered same problem as yours. My DSC-T1 cam does not show any picture (all black). Like what you've mentioned, when I opened it, I saw this pin unattached. Do you know where should this be placed?

Hi Brett -

Amazing how many of us have the same question: what's that damn little pin the flew out when I disassembled the two shells of the camera.

My DSC T1 (survived 4 years of brutal abuse in circling the globe about 5 times) still fires up (display) and I can read cards, but it seems that the CCD sensor assembly is no longer on good speaking terms with the camera processor board.

If I could just take a look at the level 2 service manual I'd have at least an idea of the normal stat of the input and output signals expected from this sensor/lens/zoom motor assembly.

I think you'll find that that's not exactly how communism works. Here's some introductory reading...

A strong argument could be made that what's actually happening here is technocapitalism, the intangible being that the "seller" appears to know how to use google, and you quite obviously don't; if your google-fu is strong, the level 2 and 3 service manuals for most of the cybershot range are already available, on the 'net, for nothing.

Hi, I have a cybershot DSC-T1, which my daughter had in her hip pocket when she sat down awhile back. The LCD screen is damaged inside and no longer works. Other then that, the camera seems to work fine. Is it possible to just replace the LCD? Would the level 2 manual show how to do that? Any suggestions for places to look for the replacement parts?
