computer cannot detect the scanner or the camera when trying to delete photos

i cant delete the pictures off my memory card, a window pops up saying that the computer cannot detect the scanner or the camera and to make sure the device is turn on and its properly connected to the computer. i have another memory card and it doesn't do this what can i do can i take it back?

More information please. What kind of memory card? Was the memory card plugged into the computer when this happened? Or was it in a camera? Or was it in an external memory card reader? What camera is it? What operating system is your computer?
