Canon Digital Camera Software Developers Kit Update Information Attention EOS Digital SLR Software Developers: Effective December 21, 2007, general distribution of Canon EOS Digital Camera Software Development Kit (EDSDK) Version 2.2 for Windows 2000, XP and Vista and Canon EOS Digital Camera Software Development Kit (EDSDK) Version 2.2 for Mac OS X (10.3.9 and later for PowerPC, 10.4.7 and later for Intel Mac) has begun for registered developers residing in our sales area. This new SDK supports EOS Digital SLRs with DIGIC II or DIGIC III processors exclusively. The list of supported models includes: EOS 400D/Digital Rebel XTi, EOS 350D/Digital Rebel XT, EOS 40D, EOS 30D, EOS 20D/20Da, EOS 5D, EOS-1D Mark II N, EOS-1D Mark II, EOS-1Ds Mark II, EOS-1D Mark III and EOS-1Ds Mark III. Support for the EOS-1Ds Mark III has been added. EDSDK 2.2 is not compatible for applications that require connection via interface cable with early EOS Digital SLRs including the EOS D30, D60, 1D, 1Ds, 10D and 300D/Digital Rebel. Please continue to use RC-SDK 8.4 with those models. For more information, be sure to read the EDSDK API Programming Reference bundled with the EDSDK download. Attention PowerShot Software Developers: Effective December 21, 2007, general distribution of Canon PS-Remote Capture Software Development Kit (PS-ReC SDK) Version 1.1.0d for Windows XP and 2000 has begun for registered developers residing in our sales area. The list of supported models includes: PowerShot G9, G7, S5 IS, S3 IS, S80, SX100 IS, A640 and A620. Support for the G9 and SX100 IS has been added. OS support for these 2 models under PS-ReC SDK 1.1.0d is limited to Windows 2000 (SP4) and Windows XP. Windows Vista is not supported. Even though you are a registered developer, it is still necessary to submit a new SDK application in order to confirm your acceptance of the SDK License Agreement if you wish to download EDSDK 2.2 or PS-ReC SDK 1.1.0d. To submit a new SDK application, please visit our website at: Canon Digital Camera Software Developers Kit General Information Thanks for developing software for Canon Digital Cameras! Best Regards, Canon U.S.A., Inc. Digital Camera Developer Relations Program In other SDK news: - Canon Inc. is still telling us that they do not plan to update the PowerShot SDKs to support Microsoft Windows Vista. If this stance changes, we will let you know. For now, only the Windows versions of EDSDK 2.x support Vista, and then only for compatible EOS Digital SLRs.
- No SDK-compatible PowerShots are planned for the 1st Half of 2008, so the next version of the PowerShot SDK will occur during the 2nd Half of 2008.
All registered developers will be notified by e-mail whenever new SDKs become available. digicam_sdk@cusa.canon.com Sat, 22 Dec 2007 00:04:21 +0000
