Nisis Pocket DV 2

Hey! Saw you on the camera hack site, thought I?d run a question by you? What do you know about the aiptek/nisis/etc pocket dv II cams? I?m trying to find software/codecs to convert existing videos to the camera?s native format so I can turn it into a rudimentary video player? I need to know all the exact specifications for the camera?s native file format. I know it?s some flavor of mjpeg avi, 320x240, 10ish frames per second, 24 bit color, 8 bit audio, but I don?t know what the interleave settings should be, or what software codecs I could use to convert files to this format to play them back on the camera. Do you know anything about this thing?

I am not quite sure. I think they all use some form of MPEG-4 high compression format. I could be wrong. I don't have the cameras that you mentioned, but I have been playing with the ViviCam 3695B lately. The clips it made could not be loaded into Adobe Premiere. But I was able to load it into Windows Movie Maker.

Video
Width: 320
Height: 240
Frame Rate: 9.97 fps
Audio
Bit Rate: 32 kbps
Channels: 1
Sample Rate: 8 kHz
Sample Size: 4

Does this help?

I downloaded GSpot 2.21 and tested the video from the ViviCam 3695B. The video codec it uses is "Motion JPEG including Huffman Tables". The audio codec it uses is "dvi_adpcm (0x0011) Intel Corporation".

AVIcodec, another software, reports the following:
Video : 3.101 MB, 930 Kbps, 9.971 fps, 320*240 (4:3), MJPG = Motion JPEG
Audio : 141 KB, 32 Kbps, 8000 Hz, 1 channels, 0x11 = IMA ADPCM

My little NISIS DV2 Cam is fine except for the tiny red recording indicator which is almost invisible in sunlight & making it difficult to tell if a recording is in progress. I have a 2 minute AVI sequence followed by 17 minutes of darkness in my pocket & another of 3 minutes followed by 5 minutes of the grass under my chair. Worse still, if the Video button is pressed to take pictures when recording is still in progress after the last shot, the camera can inadvertently be turned off instead of on.

I believe I have the older version of this camera. But I cannot find a name on this camera. It says on it DIGITAL ZOOM REMOVABLE DRIVE 3.1 MEGA PIXELS HARDWARE RESOLUTION 1.5 TFT LCD TV/PC PLAYBACK. The screen does not swivel but it looks just like your camera. Where can I find the USB cord to this camera.
