Software for Lens Design

While refreshing my mind on the topic of afocal lens system on the web, I came across an article called, "How to Design Afocal Systems". Although the name of the article sounds generic, it's really a tutorial that shows you how to design an afocal system optics using the ZEMAX: Software For Optical System Design. The software looks interesting. Just wondering if any aspired lens hacker has used it at all. What do you think of it?
