Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 Lens - A Revolution in a Small Package

Sigma Corporations has always been known to introduce the lenses in the market. They are one of the major competitors among the lens manufacturers, always coming up with high end lenses. Most cameras prefer to use the sigma lenses, ranging from Canon and Nikon to the others like Olympus. Sigma lenses are made for a range of cameras, from the basic holiday cameras to the exquisite SLR ones. The brand is also well known among professional photographers for producing the best pictures.

The Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 that were discussing, was recently launched by Sigma Japan. This lens provides a good wide angle range for digital SLR's. It also promises an ultra wide angle for film SLR's. It has been made available in Nikon, Canon, Pentax and Sigma SLR cameras. It has a focal length of 12-24 mm. The lens aperture ranges from a maximum of F22 to a minimum F4.5- F5.6. It has a minimum focus distance of 28cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:7.1. It comes with an incredible 120 degree angle of view. All these features packed together weighs approximately 625g. The huge aspherical lens is a feature that'll make camera lovers go crazy at first sight.

I should also specify that the build quality is excellent and the focusing process is really fast and quiet. Another advantage of adding this lens is that the focus ring doesn't rotate while auto focusing. A petal hood is provided as lens cover equipped with a removable hoop. The one feature that distinguishes it from other lenses is that it is the only one that can be used with both digital as well as film SLR cameras

When used with a Canon digital rebel, the amount of difference noted is massive. There are absolutely no Chromatic Aberrations noted in the pictures taken. Reduced purple fringing in excess light and excellent sharpness are other notable features. Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements are provided for effective compensation of color aberration, which is a common problem with super-wide angle lenses.

In case of the Canon digital rebel, the lens always back focuses when the 420ex flash is used. It's mainly meant for urban photography where the subject of photography is not too far from you. Thanks to the wide perspective, you can get the smallest details to fill a large portion of the frame. All these exciting features come packed within a fairly reasonable price. Just check it out and you'll fall in love with this Sigma.
