Canon EF 35mm f/2 - The Sharp Wide Angle Lens

Canon, one of the global leaders in manufacturing Office Imaging Products, Computer Peripherals, Business Information Products, Cameras, and Optical Products, is a Tokyo, Japan based company. Their existence in the modern society ever since 1937 has been greatly helpful for many people. They have been the real rulers of the world markets with their high quality products, especially with their cameras and lenses. Canon EF 35mm f/2, is one of the Canon's lenses, and this lens has been liked and used by most photographers.

The Canon EF 35mm f/2.0 Lens is a small lens, which is much lighter in weight and it is inexpensive too. The build quality of this 35mm prime lens is quite good. There is a metal lens mount which contributes to the quality of the Canon EF 35mm f/2.0 Lens. The focus ring of this lens is small, but it is much easier to handle when compared to the front-mounted focus ring on the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens. There is no Ultra Sonic Motor in this lens and hence when operated on autofocus mode there will be some noise, but the autofocus mode is reasonably fast. Another thing is that this lens does not have Full Time Manual focus.

The specifications of this lens are quite simple and it can be explained as follow. The optical construction of this lens is based on the seven elements in five groups. The total number of aperture blades found in this lens is five and it has a focus distance of about 0.25 meters. It also comes with a filter of size 52 mm, which is a non-rotating filter and it has a Hood of barrel shaped. The dimensions of this lens are 67 x 42 mm and it weighs about 210 grams. Currently, the price of this lens is about 290.00 US Dollars.

The Canon EF 35mm f/2 is a much older lens in its design, but it is still preferred by many as it is a good one. The center resolution of this lens is much higher all through the tested aperture range. The border quality of this lens can be used at f/2 to f/2.8 and also it is better from the f/4 onwards. But considering the mechanical aspects this lens is an outdated one, but when this lens is updated with a USM drive along with a reasonable focus ring, this lens would challenge the recently available lenses.
