some VERY basic advice on adapters

OK, most of you will probably laugh but...

I have a (digital) Kodak Z730 and need a wide angle. If I buy the recommended 37-52mm adapter, would that let me use *any* 52mm lens -- even my old 35mm film SLR's?

BTW loved the article about making a pinhole camera out of an SLR.

Thanks.

I think you are talking about a 37mm to 52mm step-up ring, right? If so, then you can use any accessory lenses with 52mm threads on it. Search for "accessory lens" on this site to see what I'm talking about.

Most lenses for 35mm SLR cameras have a bayonet mount at the end. It's proprietary to the camera manufacturer, so they probably won't work.

Boy that's a bummer... too bad they're proprietary. Thanks for your help, now I know what I need to get (yes the step-up and accessory lenses).
