The CD drive, or something else on my Sony Mavica CD500 has just about died.
When I turn on the camera, most of the time it says "cover open" when I want to shoot photos, and it won't let me shoot photos. I thought the cover was supposed to be off when you wanted to shoot pictures, but maybe there is a sensor that is messed up.
Is there any way to disable the cover open sensor?
Next, I think the CD reader/writer is shot. I would like to be able to attach a flash drive via the USB port and save photos to it instead of to the CD drive. Is there any way to do that?
Is there any way to access the BIOS or firmware or instruction codes or whatever it is that controls how the camera behaves, and how it interacts with its sensors, etc?
If I could save pictures via the USB, then I would also avoid the blasted C:13.01 error which crops up more and more.
Sometimes I just have to lightly slap the camera, and after enough times, it might work, but mostly it doesn't, and sometimes when it takes pictures, nothing is saved, and it spends a lot of time "repairing data," but then there's no data.
