Sony Alpha DSLR-A850 -- An Impressive Digital Camera

Sony is a Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation. Sony is one of the largest media conglomerates in the world. They engaged in business through five operating segments such as electronics, entertainment (motion pictures and music), games, financial services and other. The slogan of the company is “make believe”. Sony launched its second full-frame digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera called Sony Alpha DSLR-A850.

The body is made up of magnesium alloy. The dimension of the camera is 156 x 117 x 82 mm (6.2 x 4.6 x 3.2 inches). It has a 24.6 Megapixels of image resolution. It contains 35.9 x 24.0 mm CMOS sensor. It incorporates 3.0 inches LCD having 921,600 pixels. The ISO sensitivity ranges at ISO 200 to ISO 1600 (auto) and ISO 100 to ISO 6400 at expanded range. The shutter is electronically controlled and the speed ranges from 30 seconds to 1/8000 sec. The time for flash synchronization is 1/250 of a second.

DSLR-A850 gets power on in 0.5 sec. The shot to shot time is 0.4 sec. The camera provides continuous shooting up to 3 frames per second (23 shots), 16 fps in case of RAW and up to 18 frames in cRAW. The self timer option is 2 seconds and 10 seconds. Metering modes such as multi segment, center weighted and spot are available in this camera. The optical stabilization system delivers anti-shake reduction with lenses. The steady shot INSIDE offers 4.0 steps anti-shake performance with all type of lenses. The anti-dust system guards full-frame senor from unwanted dusts during the lens exchange.

It includes an effective Exmor CMOS sensor which captures flawless, lifelike colors and excellent images. It delivers pictures of extreme sharpness and high quality. The noise levels get reduced in both analog and digital domains by the full frame sensor. The powerful noise reduction technology ensures superb image quality even at high ISO sensitivity settings. The optical glass pentaprism viewfinder provides accurate shots and offer bright view with minimum distortion. The high power autofocus system gives excellent framing and makes it easier to locking the moving subject.

DSLR-A850 offers HD video recording and provide fine picture. It includes a nine point autofocus system. The nine point AF system gets supplemented by 10 focus assist for detection purpose. The intelligent preview function provides greater control and indicates the exposure effects, white balance and D-range optimizer adjustments. This preview is not available with different color temperatures. When Fn button get pressed, it switches to quick navigation mode and allows the users convenient one hand adjustment while shooting.

DSLR-A850 uses a high capacity lithium-ion rechargeable battery NP-FM500H for power source. The camera delivers 880 shots for a single full time charge. The camera weighs 850 grams (30 ounces). Having so many decent features and very good build quality, DSLR-A850 is an impressive digital camera for all photographers and photo enthusiasts.
