i had a cool DSC-P31 lowpoints was that there was no optical zoom and no audio recording when video.

I sold it and bought a DSC-P41 (i donno the big difference with the 43..only the AV/OUT isnt available and maybe other things)

Well, i enjoyed so much takin indoor shots without flash with my 31 in auto mode..but all i got with the new 41 was blurry shots ! i tried all the way ..all settings ..and nothing !!!!!
every time the shooter was slooow
outdoors were great ! but indoors sucked

so i sold it and bought a 2003 DSC-P72
this camera has optical zoom and audio.
and the indoors are not so great as my dsc-p31 but are much much better than the 41

what was the problem with this 2004 cameras ?

DSC-P31 - Autofocus lens (2 MP)
DSC-P41 - Fixed focus lens (4 MP)
DSC-P72 - Autofocus lens (3.2 MP)

Goes to show that megapixel isn't everthing in a digital camera.

Focus is not adjustable on a fixed focus lens. In order to keep subject is relatively sharp focus, the lens has a small aperture and set so that it has a focus range of about six feet to infinity. This compromise means that nothing in that range is extreme sharp, but everything is in focus.

A camera with auto-focus has the ability to automatically adjust its focus on the subject you are aiming at. Thus, the subject is always in sharp focus, everything else might be relatively unsharp, depending on aperture, focus range, etc.

DSC-P93 has auto-focus.

I think only the DSC-P41 is fixed focus. I don't believe DSC-P42 nor DSC-P43 exist in the USA, so I can't find specs on them. But I would suspect that the DSC-P4x series all have fixed focus.
