Camera spontaneously switches from REC to STBY in on takeoff

Hi there,

This may sound like an unusual problem but here it is anyway. My brand-new Sony HDR PJ50 with a 200GB hard drive and built-in GPS automatically switches from the Recording mode (REC) to Standby when a small airplane I installed it in takes off. This of course ruins the whole shot.

Details: the camera is attached to the windshield of the small airplane with a suction cup. I press the Record button before taxiing, and everything is great. The camera rolls all the way through the ground roll on takeoff, but as soon as the airplane lifts off the ground, the filming spontaneously stops and the camera goes into Standby. The camers has done it twice already.

Not sure if this is relevant, but the camera's mic input is plugged via an attenuating cable into the plane's intercom system.

So what can possibly be wrong here? The hard drive reacting to the shaking occurring during takeoff? A bug in the GPS recording software reacting to a quick chance in altitude? Change in altitude?

Is there a place in the camera where I could retrieve an error code?

Thanks in advance.
