Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 Doesn't Support SDHC Cards

On my San Francisco trip, I brought my DMC-LX1 and DMC-LX3 digital cameras. I had been using the 4 GB and 8 GB SDHC Cards in the DMC-LX3, due to its larger photo sizes, and using the smaller SD Cards in the DMC-LX1. Our Hyatt hotel room faced the Fisherman's Wharf and the San Francisco Bay Bridge. I had an idea of using the DMC-LX1 to capture videos of the sunrise while taking the DMC-LX3 with me. That means I would want to use the biggest SDHC Card I have in the DMC-LX1 to capture as much video as it can.

But plugging my 8GB and 4GB SDHC Cards into the DMC-LX1 resulted in "MEMORY CARD ERROR PLEASE CHECK THE CARD" message. That's real unfortunately, because it limits the useful life of this awesome digital camera. And it means I'll have to use the DMC-LX3 to capture the video instead. I think I'll go onto Panasonic's web site to see if there is a firmware upgrade for the DMC-LX1.

Looks like there is no firmware update for the DMC-LX1. There is a firmware update for the DMC-LX3 though: DMC-LX3 Firmware update service

Here is a list of firmware downloads for Panasonic digital cameras: Download | Digital Camera | Digital AV | Consumer Products | Support | Panasonic Global
