do not buy any Kodak camera as the service center for Kodak camera is HCL.
I had a very frustrated experience on HCL repair center.
I had purchased one camera (Kodak Z8612IS) from Vijay sales, Mumbai and got one year warranty on it. It was awesome camera but after one year it's shutter button stop functioning then I asked for assistance from Kodak help desk. They said HCL Infosystem LTD is the authorized service center for Kodak and I need to go to HCl now.
Here I would like to add my personal experience; I had given my camera at HCL Infosystem LTD (Viman nagar, Pune) on 4th Jan 2010. On that day Service desk Rep: Dimple assured me that I will be receiving my camera within one week of time. I, myself need to do the follow up as there was some family get-together and I need to have my camera to capture those moments but all went in vain.
After few Weeks, I got the chance and had spoken with Rep: Aparna (Phone # 020-40114447, 020-40114453) and she asked me to call after one week i.e. Friday as it will be easier for her to keep me posted with the recent updates.
There was no response from service desk and no one was willing to answer my call whenever I had tried Tech support number (Phone # 020-40114447, 020-40114453) as many as 18 times a day (it can't be a joke). In this case I had very terrible time in dealing with them. I am totally frustrated by the lethargic and careless attitude of the customer service representatives. Moreover, I can't travel to viman nagar regularly as I am nearly 25 km away from city (Sanghvi).
After one month I got the chance to speak with 9960672604 (Bimlesh) and I had provided him with my job Sheet number and camera model as he was not at his desk. After 2-3 days I again called him for an update and he took hardly one minute to check and then he said that the main PCB board needs to be replaced with a new one as the shutter button is mounted on it which he can't replace and the cost for the new board would be Rs 5000.
I missed my camera on my sister's marriage and after a lot of difficulty/ frustration, do you think I will pay Rs 5000 for this (after one month of delay)?
However my friends & family are having a doubt that the service desk might have changed the original working PCB with a non working PCB as I sent an email to the head office and this matter needs to be escalated as it's already more than one month and the service desk needs to justify the delay for the period.
I think I am being taken for a ride by the HCL service desk!!
after few week One guy from HCL called me and as I was sleeping, he said that he will call me around 3-4PM but I didn't receive any call from him. I am totally frustrated / unsatisfied with your technical support guys which could atleast helps me in escalating mine issue knowing the criticality of the situation.
Again one lady replied to misguide me as I already said that I will go to consumer court, she said the camera has been sent to Noida centre for further repairs, but I replied her saying that you are providing me with false statement as I had already taken my camera on that day itself from HCL for further action after 2 month of delay.
