Fuji S6000fd / S6500fd firmware hack

I am looking for Fuji FinePix S6000fd / S6500fd firmware hack. This is a good camera. But I feel we can do so many things with this camera with firmware hack.

i too believe in a firmware hack for this baby. i own the s6000fd and anything that would attempt to change that slow flash recycle time would be so beautiful

i'm looking for a custom firmware for my s6500fd, i would change some things in it's "mind", like remembering the delay of the shot after each photo taken, or asingning other useful function to the digital zoom button (or make it exactly a function button: pressed once the other buttons get other functions that require enering menus usually, and pressed second time it turns the camera to it's normal mode). i am also looking for a program that can dump the firmware of my camera.

as for the problem of having raw on a compact, just find a digicII compact camera and use chdk, an adition to the original firmware that unlicks lots of functions without flashing over the original firmware. look here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
i don't praise canon, fujifilm is much better, but it seems that only famous brands atract hackers attention :P

ooo, this is so touchy! i would give the digital zoom button a "stick-shift" kind of a function. wich is pressing it once changes the functions of the other buttons to some that are hidden in the menus. pressing it again returns the usual functions. plus: remembering the shutter delay setting, plus a bulb mode (exposure to infinity) and some others that i don't remember now, but i want them when i work with the camera.

Well, there are so many functions I would like to edit in my S6500fd. For example flash synchronization with slave flash or that delay between taking another picture even without flash... I just can't wait till the hack comes out.

Another thing would be B-shutter speed going at least up to 30 seconds.

Fujifilm FinePix S6000fd Review: 14. Conclusion

There are some Cons which can be fixed by firmware.

Conclusion - Cons
High contrast tone curve tends to clip shadows or highlights
3-shot limit in continuous mode
Noise reduction and JPEG artefacts (when viewed at 100%) at all settings from ISO 200
ISO 1600 / 3200 JPEGS not as good as F30 (can be solved by shooting raw)
JPEGs slightly over-sharpened, can look a little 'over-processed'
Control system for manual exposure modes a bit fiddly - needs a command dial
White balance, metering, raw mode and other options hidden in menus

I believe many will pay for this hacks

if you like to hack Fuji digital cameras you have to learn about H8 machine code (Hitachi/Renesas) and the Hi8 RTOS - they are all based on this MCU and OS. Fujis latest DLSR e.g. is powered by a H8-2600 (the digital part, the camera part is the same as Nikon D200).

CHDK is possible since the canon Digic II runs with a small VMS containing a BASIC interpreter language so CHDK is in fact a script but not a hack at all. This is simply not possible with other hardware than Canon's Digic chip.

I you want a compact Fuji with RAW get the E-550 or F-810, they both have it. Fuji stripped that mode off since most people simply did not take advantage of RAW in this kind of camera.

I too would like to see a "CHDK for Fuji". I have the F10 & F100fd, and both could gain so much with opening new options and removing the limitations set by Fuji.
