Dance Recital with Canon HV-20
Shot a dance recital with the HV-20 last weekend. Looked at it on my 26" portable monitor. If the lighting was low, it was very grainy and static pattern confetti noisy. If there was anywhere near adequate light it was fine. Could look stunning if lit properly. Haven't tried a wedding situation yet. Might mess around a little with it Saturday.

Experiments With Mini-DV To HDV
Having MUCH Mini-DV material, and quite a few edited videos in the same format, but being impressed with how much better good HDV can look (even from a cheap, 1-chip HDV Canon HV20 compared with one of the best Mini-DV camcorders, the 3-chip Sony VX2000), I was hoping there was a reasonable way to upsample my Mini-DV

Colour correction on the Canon XH-A1?
Has anyone felt the need to perform colour correction (as described in the user's manual) on their XH-A1 (or similar HD camera)? I took mine out to shoot in the park all day Tuesday, and while the footage was amazing at 20f, the colours were not as vibrant as I thought they could be. Is that a function of 20f, and in any case is it better to colour-

Using after-market (non OEM) Batteries... Recommended or not?
Hi, Has anyone had any experience with using after-market batteries? I'm about to buy a few back-up batteries for a Canon XH A1 camcorder and plunking down $160 to $200 per battery is a bit more than I want to spend. Are there potential problems using non-OEM batteries? Also, if it's ok (advisable) to use an off-brand battery is there a

Exporting audio for outside editing?
I have a sound engineer who offered to work on the soundtrack of my last short project (compressing, normalizing, removing noise etc.). What is the best way to do this? Should I export the two-track audio to a WAV file, or is there a better way to preserve the edits (breaks in the clips) while allowing the engineer to work on them easily (i.e. without an NLE program)?

HDV to PC capture problem, do you recognise this?

Camera Advice/Editing Needed
Hello, I am planning to shoot a short film that I will want to edit, dub dialogue, move dialogue around and add sound effects. For the camera I was leaning toward the Canon XH A1 or the XH G1, but I don't know the importance of the JACKPACK HD-SDI, Timecoding on the XH GA1. I'm shooting with a single camera. Can anyone help direct on the
