The same picture different ways
Some time ago, I submitted a picture that I took of a water mill for evaluation. It turns out that most had some pretty good things to say about it, even some with helpful suggestions as well for improvement. Base on the input from others, this got me to thinking. How does a fisheye lens work?
How does a fisheye lens work? Assume I can stand a LOT of image distortion. Why does a fisheye lens have so darn many elements? But the KEY question is this... If I want a telephoto lens, I can get there with a transmissive lens or a reflector. Is there a reflective analog for a very wide angle (fisheye) lens?

[link] -original size is worth clicking This was made from a stack of 300 frames at about 7 microns per step for a total depth of 2mm. These little cups hold water for young plants to get started then a raindrop splashes them out to spread.
