uploading

Hello,
Hopefully you can help me with this question, After using my Sony digital camcorder to capture fireworks, when I upload into Windows Movie Maker using USB 2.0 I quite often get a slight "glitch" or split second hesitation when click the start recording button on the video. Upon playing the same video hooked to the TV from the camcorder it isn't there. Do I need to upload with firewire to remove that glitch in the video?
Thanks,

Russ
