need dcr-trv280 driver for vista.

I found a program on the Sony website for download, but I don't have the cd-rom that came with the camera to get the part number from the cd-rom. Of course I contacted sony and they couldn't help me, but wanted to send me the driver and program on disc for $30 even though it is free on their website. It is pretty sad that they couldn't just give me a direct link to download when it is for my camera model.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem. Spoke with Sony support. The drivers are there for Vista, but you have to connect the TRV280 from it's "DV" port to the Firewire port of you computer/laptop. I purchased a cable that has small firewire connectors on both ends. USB will not work with Vista. Once it is connected, a popup should ask you what you want to do, ie, capture video, etc. No other software required. Good Luck
