HELP!! firewire download from film in Sony DCR-TRV350??

Please!! I loaned my (largely unused) camera to a friend for their wedding and now I just want to save the footage to my hard drive so I can make a few copies. Camera (and my PC) have firewire, but the software that came with wants to use USB-will I have to go that route? I believe from what I\'ve read that quality will be poor. I don\'t even have a USB cable unused right now, but could pick one up if results would be good.

I hope you can help because I have the main footage of a friend's wedding. I have never transferred from this camera to my PC before. I have XP Pro OS and have VideoStudio8 as well as software (ImageMaker) that came with the camera. I'm trying to use the 4 to 8 pine firewire, but ImageMaker wants to see USB. I don't have a cable handy for that and have heard that give poor quality. I think that there's plenty of room on my hard drive.

I'd appreciate any suggestions, as I don't want to let my friends down. And I'd like to do some films of my cockatoo as well.

You can use Microsoft Windows Movie Maker to capture the digital video through Firewire port. I've done that several time. And Windows Movie Maker comes with your Windows XP. You can also download the latest version from Microsoft's web site.
