Adding a 2.5mm jack to the Sony Gun Zoom Microphone ECM-HGZ1

Hi, Ive recently been looking at modifing a Sony ECM-HGZ1 so as to connect a Audio Technica Wireless mic via the AIS to record on my Sony DV90.

After closer inspection and a local trip to Radio Shack, I found a perfect location for a 2.5mm jack to be mounted inside the Microphone, inside the shoe housing.

The 3 conductor/Closed Circuit 2.5mm fits perfect just above the swivel of the shoe.

After careful drilling and precision fitting I was able to adapt the shoe to having a 2.5mm Female socket.

With all wires solidered I am now onto how to wire up the closed circuit on the PCB board that resides at the end of the Mic Boom.

I know that Michael claimed that he had dones this, However I have noticed that he hasnt responded to any bodies requests for further information, additionally his email bounces back.

has Anyone successfully traced the PCB of this board and where best to solider a Stereo Closed circuit socket to the board?

I can send someone a copy of a JPG of the board if they are willing to trace for me?

I am taking images of each step of the project onces complete will make the most functional, complete and simple mod to a sony mic.

Regards Marc

attachaed is a pic with questions. I just ordered the ECM-HGZ1 to
sacrifice for my Sony HC42

do I HAVE to remove the amp parts? it sounds like too much slicing.

Marc will you send me a picture so I can figure it out. I don't want to spend so much mone for my DCR-SR200 when I already have a ECM-HGZ1.

Can you send me a picture and how did you remove the cover without messing up anything. I need to have this finished by the end of this year at the latest.

Title: converting AIS to mic audio jack
Weblog: Camera Hacker
Excerpt: My DCRTRV18 finally died. I'm pissed that many of the upgrades (mine is a DCR - HC42) do not have a MIC input! Is anyone making an (Active Interface Shoe(AIS) with a mini-pin input - specifically for the WCS-999 wireless mics?
