Samsung VP-D361i PC connectivity

Hii
I have recently purchased a Samsung VP-D361 i mini DV cam. I need to connect this to my Computer via USB cable.
Camera only has IEEE 1394 Interface. But I hav a "USB to FireWire Cable". using that cable I tried to connect the cam to the PC. but It says Unknown Device. Do I have to install any drivers for this cable.
Anybody please advise me.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Chethana,

I Dont think this model is having that facility, I received via CLUB mahindra membership recently. Since i already have one SONY camera, i will be selling this camera in fresh condition.

This camera they have purchased in bulk from samsung, does not have PC connectivity.

If it has a FireWire interface (i.e 1394) then ur PC has to have

1. FireWire card

2. FireWire cable, (not USB to FireWire cable)

Once u have the above , then just connect, recall that IEEE 1394 is a Plug n Play device, ur PC will read digixtal camcoder/device detected. To do editing must be running at least

XP, P3/CELERON, 256MB RAM,40HDD free

BUT to realy enjoy Editing

XP pro spk2
2Gig DDR RAM
200HDD 7200rpm( with 2 parts)
Dual processor P4 2,8ghZ OR HIGHER
256 graphix card
Graphix Drivers 9.0C
Audio drivers (K-lite + ffshow)

i have the same camera and an ieee 1394 port on my pc. When i plug in the video camera and witch it on, nothing happens, when i load a movie edit program to capture video, it says nothing is detected.

I imagine its a simple problem, but i have no idea how to go abouts fixing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you see DV, then you are using the Firewire (IEEE 1394) cable. What operating system are you using?

After plugging in the camcorder to the Firewire port, what do you see in the Device Manager? Do you see a IEEE 1394 device driver and a Digital Imaging Device?

That problem that you all are reffering I am experience it also.
The explanation that I can find is that a lot of video cameras have inconpatibilities with devices with VIA chipset, witch the companies dont refer. You can try to use a diferente device woth chip set Texas instruments.
Sometimes it works

I brought this camera second hand off a mate that never used it. In my opinion its a shit camera and i can't get it to work with my computer. Brought a brand new firewire card and cables and still nothing. The only way to get the footage off of these tapes is to goto your local photo shop and get them to put it onto DVD for you. Costs about $40.

When connecting my camera via the firewire it says it does not detect the camera. I have replaced the firewire card and cables.
When connecting to my tv with the av connection it does not show either. It seems all these ports were disabled some-how. How can I fix this?
BTW i have Windows XP with SP3 installed and uses Pinnicle software (V10) for video capturing and editing

Ok guys. I did post the solution once before but its not here now for some reason. Here is what you do to get the footage off this camera. Go onto ebay and by the samsung multi lead. This is the lead that has rca and s-video tails hanging off it to connect to a tv for playback. Next off ebay buy an EZY CAP usb converter. It comes with software and drivers. The EZY CAP Converter is a usb dongle that has rca and s-video tails hanging off it as well. Next just plug in the camera, plug in your usb Ezy Cap converter and then boot up your capture software! Its that easy. This stuff off ebay by the way will only set you back about $20 including freight from china. ENJOY PEOPLE!
