PV-GS50S SD Card Recording Codec

With AVIcodec, I loaded up a few ASF files generated by the Panasonic PV-GS50S MiniDV camcorder. These files are generated when recording video directly to the Secure Digital Card. The characterics of the files are as follows:

Video: 393 Kbps, 13.0 fps, 320*240 (4:3), MP4S = ISO MPEG-4

Audio: 32 Kbps, 8000 Hz, 1 channels, 0x45 = G.726

G.726 - 40, 32, 24, 16 kbit/s adaptive differential pulse code modulation (ADPCM)

Source: G.7xx: Audio (Voice) Compression Protocols (CODEC) (G.711, G.721, G.722, G.726, G.727, G.728, G.729)

My Windows XP installation does not support the G.726 audio codec. But I managed to find the codec on this page:

I found out that Adobe Premiere and VirtualDub can not read the ASF files generated by the Panasonic PV-GS50 camcorder on the SD card. Probably due to Microsoft owning the patent on the ASF format!

The only video editing software that can open these files is the Windows Movie Maker . . . Anyone know a better video editing software out that that can read ASF files?
