restored pics to sd card from pc. camera can't see them

Canon Powershot sd1200 is camera with 8gb sd card.
Thought I was doing sister a favor by copying pics off off sdcard to pc hard drive.
She said she needs them on card/camera to take and work with.
I copied all pics from pc to the original folder DCIM\100CANON.
The camera can see there is only 5gb of space left but when I goto view pics it just says "No Image".
Any help is appreciated.
No, the pics are not in dcim\100canon\dcim\100canon.
Thanks.

How did you copy the photos off the card? With the SD Card in a memory card reader and you moving it using Windows Explorer? Or did you use a special program?

How did you copy the photos back onto the card?

Use the Windows command-line "tree" command to generate a directory tree list. Then post the list here for us to analyze.

Now that I think about it, I think I used a program that popped up(among other choices) called Nikon Transfer.
If I put the sd card in my usb adapter, I can see them on the pc.
Thanks again.
Oh, and to get them back on the card, I just copied/pasted using windows explorer. Ya.

Okay figured it out. I created a folder on the pc called moms camera 2009. So when the pics got transferred to the pc, the pics got named "moms camera 2009 001" then ....002.....003.....004 etc. I renamed one to IMG_0001 and the camera was able to display it.
So now I need a utility to rename a bunch of files in one fell swoop. Thanks for you attention and help.
