Fujifilm Japan announce S3 Pro buffer upgrade
Fujifilm Japan has today announced that it will make available an upgrade for the S3 Pro digital SLR which will increase the camera's internal buffer from 128 MB to 256 MB. This increase in buffer space means up to 8/16 RAW/JPEG frames (Wide dynamic range) or 17/33 RAW/JPEG frames (Standard dynamic range) in a single burst. Reading this news release I couldn't help but wonder what kind of internal memory buffer the FujiFilm S3 Pro uses. Does it use standard SIMM like the notebook PC's or just bare chips that has to be soldered to the main board. And I suppose you can already guess where I'm going . . . what does it take to get the chips ourselves, take apart the cameras, and install the chips into them . . . would be a wonderful DIY hack, wouldn't it?
