Sharing Canon TC-80N3 between Canon and Pentax SLR camerasJust found a new Hack for you Hi Ian Tinker Here I just bought a Canon Rebel XTi and wanted to use the TC-80N3 Remote timer on it for some astrophotography and weather shots and could not because of the wrong plug type. I just found this on the Digital SLR Astronomical Imaging site Fortunately the Canon TC-80N3 is easily modified to work with the Canon 300D/350D and the Pentax - yes it does work with the Pentax. It is only sold with a connector for the 10D/20D but if this is cut off and replaced with a 2.5mm stereo plug we will be up and running. The following should make it clear how to do this:-

I have just hacked the timer myself and it works !!! definately the way to automate your camera ... just set up and walk

Just saw this lisetd on eBay from a Brooklyn camera trader. {I know what you're thinking}. Anyway - just thought I'd share as it looks like someone might be selling their hacked version(s) for this and other remotes. I have an e-mail into them to confirm but this picture's definitely interesting. At least for the less solder-savvy. The thing I like about this mod (if it indeed works) is that you could theoretically use another length of stereo mini extension without the exorbitant price for an N3 cable. I'm not the maker, seller, user or anything. Just trying to get this timer to work with my Pentax. Thanks....
