Sony DSC-P8 all Pictures turn black

Hello,
recently my Sony DSC-P8 got a problem. When I try to take a picture, the LCD screen is black, with some white stripes. When I change to playback mode, the display works fine.
Sometimes everything returned back to normal, but since couple of weeks, the LCD always shows black. Also the histogram works fine, but shows only dark colours, as if it was night.
Changing all the menu options, and fiercly shaking the camera did not help. Also completely loading the battery changed nothing.
I also opened the thing, but everything looks normal inside.
What could be the problem?

I have had the EXACT same problem. Have you, or anyone else, found a solution or cause to the problem? If so, what steps did you take to fix it/repair it?

Yes, this is an issue that Sony is aware of, and had a class-action lawsuit brought against them as a result. The resolution is to go to the link below, do the little online evaluation and Sony will repair the camera for free. Mine is doing the same thing, and I just found this today.
