Rebel XT/350D focusing problems solved!

I had problems with AF & manual focus since I bought a used EOS-350D.

1. Manual: Not sure if I did it, or it was like it since I got it but I realized the focusing screen was the wrong way round back to front! This made the screen sit up a little, throwing focus out the window. There is a small tab on one edge which must fit into the small slot at the rear of the mirror box-it's a tightish fit.

2. Auto: There is a small, eccentric adjustment screw underneath the mirror, on the left side of the mirror box as you hold the camera to your eye, which the secondary AF mirror rests against. It requires a very small, (approx 1mm) allen key to turn it, and it is quite stiff. The camera was focusing in front of objects so, holding the mirror out of the way with one hand, I had to turn it clockwise a little (about an eighth of a turn)

Now I'm happy!

Hope this helps someone, Jonathan

Thanks, jonathan. This is certainly useful information.
