Tape stuck in Sony CCD-TRV35E

Hi, I'm new to this internet forum business and I'm desperate for help. I have a Sony Handycam Vision CCD-TRV35E which has a tape stuck in it. And can't get it out. When I switch the camera on it starts making a sort of chiming/beeping noise and gives the error code C:31:00 and a yellow arrow which points upwards flashes in the middle of the view finder screen. If I then try to press the eject button in changes to error code C:31:30!!!! It seemed to happen after I gently....(honestly) brushed a grain of sand off the cassette compartment. It was just a gentle brush and I'm 99.9% sure no sand actually got inside the camera. So don't know if this was just coincidental!!! I have called a local repair shop, but they say they'll have to send it to Auckland and it will cost at least $150 to get it looked at. And probably at least $350 to get it fixed. This seems excessive and at this time of year there just is not the money. PLUS it wouldn't be back before Christmas and I am desperate to have it working by then as I want to video the childrens faces on Christmas morning. I also don't want to loose the precious footage that is already on the tape. I have spent the last three days looking for answers on the internet Can any -one PLEASE HELP? P.S. I have tried taking both batteries out and replacing them and also attached it to mains power. BOTH did not work!!!

Yes, unplug it and the battery, make sure its closed then give it a good few firm smacks on the side. not too hard but firm.
this should work,as it did for me.
its the tape carrier gets stuck that's all. but u cant fix it yourself. but smacking gets it running again.

Title: DCR-TRV350 tape wont eject C:32:11
Weblog: Camera Hacker
Excerpt: I have a Sony DCR-TRV350 that has stopped working & will not eject the tape. The screen lights up & gives me the 32:11 code but doesn't even make a noise to try ejecting the tape. Sony Customer Service was a joke, he ran me through the same reset routine that I found in the manual & website but stil . . .
