Have you tried the adapter with larger capacities? i.e. >1GB.

Druid, I haven't tried it with a card larger than 512 MB. I don't currently have a bigger card.

Any idea where I could still buy one of these? I can't seem to find any for sale online anymore...

Thanks for the tip. Turns out a store down the street had one (and only one). Few and far between now.

Looks like there's some support (maybe) for larger capacity sticks. I'll post when I test it out.

Hi Guys,

It seems I'm joining in late on the conversation but I too was looking for an adapter. Does anybody else make them or does Sony have another adapter that it converts Pro duo into some other memory other than pro?

There is a new Sony adapter: AD-MSCF1

I got AD-MSCF1 using my sony points that I earned. Don't want buy in case it doesn't work on Canon EOS 300D. But lucky it does work perfectly on 2GB (sandisk) and 4GB (lexar). I did encounter problem with 4G to due the fat32. Once I reformat to fat from fat32 it work fine with Canon EOS 300D and still retain the 4GB. So my next step is to try 8G but it will be awhile until I have enough sony points

Try formatting it to FAT. Or try formatting it in your camera.

You mention, "Now that I have this adapter, and several cameras that use Memory Stick's and CompactFlash's, I will stop buying CompactFlash's and concentrate on buying Memory Stick Duo's in the future."

While I agree that the adaptor has its place; to help those of us with the non standard memory stick devices use a proper, universal, card format in our card readers etc. I wonder why, exactly, you would actually choose to use a slower performing, proprietary, Sony Memory Stick over a compact flash card in your Canon SLR?

Perhaps you could post for everyone to read.

The question would be more relevant if worded the other way around: "Why I did NOT choose to use the faster CompactFlash?"

The answer is "need". I didn't need the faster CompactFlash. But I did need the Memory Stick Duo compatibility for my other electronics (camcorders, PDA's, digital cameras, etc.). I choose convenience over speed, because that's what I needed.

Think of your camera and your memory card as tools to perform a job. For any given job, you decided on what you "need" to get the job done. Would you use a sledge hammer on a 3-inch nail? No, you get a regular-sized hammer, even though it's not the heaviest hammer, that is the most reasonably priced. And you change the size of the hammer for different jobs. But you always get a reasonably-sized one that would work for most jobs.

So in my case, I choose a memory card format that works with most jobs (devices). If I am a sport photographer or a journalist, my job might have dependent on the fastest CompactFlash on the market. But that's not my primary focus at this point. In fact, my ancient digital SLR probably won't be able to write at the fastest CompactFlash speed anyway.

Excerpt: Hi! Came accross your page looking for something similar. I wanted to ask, has anyone found anything to read a MS Pro (1GB) card in a CF slot?
